Activists met with Hesperia Wells Fargo management on 9/15/09. Wells Fargo acknowledged the public outcry in regard to the billboards. During the meeting, it was stated that Wells Fargo is reviewing the request to replace the two Spanish language Wells Fargo billboards with English language Wells Fargo billboards.
HESPERIA CITY COUNCIL MEETING: Speaking during the public comments of the Hesperia City Council meeting – Raymond Herrera introduced a campaign in support of the English language.
Seven public speakers requested that Wells Fargo replace two Spanish language billboards with English language billboards, the first Spanish language billboards in Hesperia – according to a local resident. Three public speakers – including Victor Valley High Unified School Board Member Felix Diaz – spoke in support of Spanish language billboards.
Although the Hesperia City Council declined to take action in support of English language billboards, one city council member requested that the city attorney explore the possibility of a resolution in support of the English language in the City of Hesperia.
