After Raymond Herrera was escorted out of the 8/7/12 Victorville City Council Meeting by two police officers, activists attended the next Victorville City Council Meeting, on 8/21/12, to speak out during public comments to defend Herrera’s First Amendment rights. After Robin Hvidston spoke and the audience applauded, the mayor pounded his gavel and told the audience he would no longer allow applause!
Mayor Pro Tem Rudy Cabriales http://ci.victorville.ca.us/rudycabriales.aspx was found to have broken the law along with his wife, Vicki Cabriales, the former CEO of the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce by funding more than $50,000 from the city. Although the district attorney stated that Cabriales broke the law, the district attorney declared Cabriales will not be prosecuted as he no longer is funding the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with money from the City of Victorville.
