Field Report: Obama Protest Las Vegas Del Sol High School

Amid a heavy law enforcement presence, on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, Raymond Herrera, president and founder of We The People California’s Crusader organized a No Amnesty protest, in front of Del Sol High School, Las Vegas, where President Obama announced his immigration plan.

“Barack Obama has now sought to employ the treasures of government: the office of government the U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives to expand amnesty for illegal aliens,” Herrera said. “Obama has abandoned his pubic charge to administer the law of the land – that is to say, the rule of law.  He has  in fact imposed his arbitrary will across this great nation.  Democracy denied.”

According to Herrera, there was a lot of local support for the No Amnesty rally.  Local television and print media interviewed Herrera and those protesting Obama’s announcement:

NO AMNESTY protesters staged across the street from the high school, and were the first group lining the street as Obama approached the scene in his motorcade

Herrera said, “Our  No Amnesty rally was about 8 feet from President Obama’s armored vehicle.   We are certain  the president viewed our signs and our welcoming committee.  We were there to send the message of the American  people  to the president – Stop Illegal Immigration – No Amnesty!”

“Overall, we had very good support from the local neighborhood,” Herrera said. “Even one of the Obama supporters when he walked by a Stop Illegal Immigration sign, pointed to the sign and he said, ‘I agree with you.’ “

Herrera is networking with organizations nationwide as well as members of congress to stop the push for GOP amnesty legislation.

National Day of Mourning Obama Inauguration Protest LaVerne & Temecula, CA 1/21/13

January 23, 2013

The National Day of Mourning – Inauguration Day 2013.

We started the day at a busy freeway overpass in LaVerne, which is a “Republican” town. Even so, with our  signs opposing Obama, we had expected some negative responses. However, it was just a steady stream of thumbs up, smiling drivers honking – dogs and kids in the back seat, giving us thumbs up.  Lots of long horn blasts from approving semi-truck drivers.  It was a nonstop explosion of support.

It is estimated that more than 15,000 passersby viewed the protest and easy-to-read signs from the freeway overpass.

January 14, 2013

Mexican Smugglers Killed Coast Guardsman Terrell Horne – a father of two young sons, whose wife was pregnant when he was killed
Pre-Trial Hearing

The two Mexican nationals charged by federal prosecutors in the December 2, 2012, death of a Coast Guardsman Terrell – pre-trial: 1/7/13, Roybal Federal Building.
Both men are only facing second-degree murder charges, as well as assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon, and other charges for the death of Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III, 34, of Redondo Beach.

Presiding Judge -   HON.GARY A. FEESS

TEAM OF 10 ASSIST MEXICAN SMUGGLERS IN COURT

Above rendering from December 3, 2012 court appearance

A team of 10 – attorneys, Mexican Consulate representatives, and an interpreter – assisted the two Mexican smugglers Jose Mejia Leyva and Manuel Beltran Higuera in the courtroom.

Above photo, Adrienne Murphy, Robert Lauten, Vaughn Becht and Robin Hvidston attended the hearing in support of Coast Guardsman Terrell Horne, killed in action, defending America.

Mejia and Beltran were in white prison uniforms – handcuffs chained to their waists – and accompanied by an interpreter.  Initially, seated on the front row, they met with attorneys before they were called to the podium. Deputy Federal Public Defender Firdaus Dordi patted Mejia on the back during their conversation. Both Mejia and Beltran appeared to be in good health, and were even smiling at times, during the meeting with the attorneys. Mejia, in the above rendering on the right, appeared to have recently shaved off his hair.  They were the first criminal  case, of six cases, to go before the judge.

U.S District Judge Feess stated that he had read the indictment and noted  the “events described occurred off of the California coast, in the Central District.”

Judge Feess asked the federal prosecutor, “What is a panga?”

The prosecutor explained to the judge that panga is the term for the boat used  – which rammed the coast guard boat, and killed Coast Guard Officer Terrell  Horne.

A discussion about the Coast Guard boat – details about the Coast Guard Halibut small boat  were presented.

It was established that after the  Coast Guard boat was rammed, Mejia and Beltran fled in their panga boat, continuing down the California coast, and were finally captured “just miles from Mexico” and in a different federal court district.

Even though the Mexican smugglers were in U.S. waterways illegally, the judge asked via the Spanish interpreter,  if Mejia and Beltran had been read and understood their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

Both men, via the interpreter, replied, “Si.”

Both men, via the interpreter, plead not guilty.

The judge then stated they were entitled to a speedy trial but noted that because of  the volume of evidence, a continuance would most likely go forward.

A status conference was scheduled for February 11 at 1:30pm and the trial was scheduled for February 19th.
