Pomona College http://www.pomona.edu is part of the Claremont Colleges, a consortium of seven institutions that share a large campus but are individually governed. The Pomona College Board of Trustees called for the verification of employees work documents and, as a result, 17 illegal alien workers were fired in December 2011, primarily from the dining staff.
Pro-illegal alien organizations, such as Pomona For Justice, have been staging on-campus protests and vigils – denouncing the Pomona College Board of Trustees for the firing of the 17 illegal alien workers.
This week, the Pomona College Board of Trustees are on campus. Pro-illegal alien groups and their supporters held a vigil for the 17 fired illegal alien workers on February 22 and will also stage a rally on Friday, February 24 at Pomona College.
